Connoisseur Edition. Full leather.

Each uniform volume has bright gilt-rule at the panels and 5 raised bands along each spine, with fine, decorative gilt-tooling at the compartments and offsetting leather title labels. There's a bit of forgivable foxing at the endsheets but each volume is free of bookplates or writing or any other markings to the text.

Each volume also includes a wonderful engraved title-page all different engravings, each by E. Frontispiece portrait. London: George Dearborn, London: John Murray, Early edition. Five volumes. Original publisher's brown paper over blue paper-covered boards with tan spine label. A very good set with some wear and sunning to spines, as well as toning to page edges.

Hard Cover. John Murray. Handsomely bound in pictorial gilt decorated blue cloth. Byron's stylized heraldic devices to front covers. Gilt titles to spine. Illustrated throughout with full page plate engravings. Set is comprised of seven volumes of Poetry and six volumes of letters and journals.

Previous owners small attractive bookplate to front pastedowns. Some mild rubbing to extremities. Small chip to cloth at rear cover of one volume. A crisp, Fine set. A superior example of an ornate early nineteenth century binding. Navy blue smooth grained morocco with red spine labels and elaborately tooled and gilted spines, the raised bands elaborately gilded and the panels repoussed. Both boards ruled and tooled and edged in gilt.

Each volume contains an engraved frontis. Page size is by 85 cm. These books have been used and there is occasionally light scuffing and shelf wear. Nothing heavy or ugly. Volume 3 has suffered a drop a black ink to the lower page edge. All are sound, complete and tight with inside condition Very Good or better.
